Pray for Oral Bible Translations

Thank you for joining us this month as we take up “The Invitation” and join together with thousands of YWAMers from around the world as we pray and hear from God. This month we will be praying for the Oral Bible Translations.

Millions of people are still waiting to hear God speak their language. Not just any language but the one they dream in, the one they pray in, and the one that speaks to their heart. According to YWAM Morelia, of the more than 7,000 languages in the world, less than half have even a portion of Scripture translated. Fewer than 1,000 have the full Bible.

For many, the barrier is even deeper. A large part of the world’s population either cannot read or prefers to learn through hearing. Oral Mother Tongue translation is helping these people. Scriptures are translated and recorded in the heart language of a people group, by local speakers, for their own communities. And when they hear, something shifts. As Romans 10:17 says, “Faith comes from hearing the message.”

Please pray for the many initiatives of YWAM and other organizations that create and distribute oral Bible translations. Please take a moment to pray right now and please also pray with us on June 11, the prayer day for YWAM’s prayer initiative called The Invitation.

Translators and Purépechas pastors.
  1. Pray for unreached language groups to receive the full Bible.
  2. Pray for local translators to be equipped, and Spirit-led.
  3. Pray for clarity and faithfulness in every translation.
  4. Pray for unity between local churches and YWAM. It is very important that church leaders direct the Oral Mother Tongue projects so they adopt God’s word as their own, not as something imposed from an outside ministry.
  5. Pray for transformation as people hear God’s Word and for multiplication of this ministry across communities and regions.
